Easter Lamb Butter

I was walking through the grocery store yesterday and saw something bizarre on the way to pick up some yogurt: lamb butter. The sign said it was for Easter. Really? If the Midwest could be one product, this is it. Seeing it made me laugh and reminded me of bumping into Amish vendors at the farmer’s market when I first moved here. There were so many people surrounding their tables buying butter. Not “lamb” butter, but big bricks of the fresh churned stuff from Amish farms. One woman bought three bricks to, as she put it, “last her the winter.” What do you do with ten pounds of butter? I am at a loss here because I don’t buy butter. The ten years of former veganism inside of me just doesn’t like the stuff. I prefer alternatives. I wonder when the Amish will start producing olive oil…
